SMU graduate applies for teaching scholarship a year before graduation; willing to make sacrifices

SMU student Chen Han Rong, 24, applied for a teaching scholarship before he graduated. Han Rong was initially undecided on whether he should venture into a career of social work or teaching. However, he decided on the latter even though it would only get him a quarter of the financial benefits other scholars received, as his passion for teaching surpassed what others deemed as a loss.
