Marina Bay Sands donates $144,000 to The Singapore Association for the Deaf to hire sign language interpreters

SMU alumnus Zuratun Nafisah Rantasalmi, who is working as a sign language interpreter, said that on average, she would receive three to four calls late at night monthly from the police seeking her help at the station. Nafisah, who has normal hearing, started learning sign language when she was pursuing psychology in SMU. She said that with more sign language interpreters, the demand for those with hearing disabilities would increase, and the importance of sign language interpretation would be recognised.
