Some women, including those who are highly educated, find it difficult to return to the workplace after they have stopped working for many years. SMU Associate Professor Tan Hwee Hoon commented, “The solution is to help provide various avenues for these women to know where the jobs are, and to provide very clear information as to what they should expect in terms of the remuneration.” She added that as long as we continue to provide part-time work or allow them to work from home, they will be able to remain in touch with the workplace. In doing so, the likelihood of these women returning to work would be higher.
