As the Singapore Management University (SMU) draws the curtain to its Silver Jubilee, the University continues to see acts of giving from its alumni and the community — from alumni who return to pay it forward, to industry leaders who believe in the transformative power of education.
Two recent gifts exemplify this transformative spirit of philanthropy, reflecting SMU’s mission to nurture graduates who lead with integrity, compassion, and impact.
AGT Partners Scholarship: A Full-Circle Gift of Gratitude
In another testament to the spirit of paying it forward, SMU alumnus Gregory See (BBM 2007, MWM 2008), together with his co-founders Avrian Tan and Tim Kusumo, has made a S$2 million contribution through their firm AGT Partners to establish the AGT Partners Scholarship.
A MAS-licensed fund manager anchored in value investing and long-term stewardship, AGT Partners embodies the belief that success is not merely to be celebrated, but to be shared. Guided by this conviction, the endowed scholarship will cover full tuition fees and living expenses for talented but financially challenged students across four years of study, supporting up to eight students concurrently. The scholarship also seeks to inspire social responsibility, nurturing compassionate individuals who not only strive for excellence but are committed to doing good.
For Gregory, the gift marks a deeply personal milestone. Having received a scholarship to pursue his Master of Science in Wealth Management at SMU, he regards that opportunity as the foundation of his journey in finance and entrepreneurship. Today, through this scholarship, he honours that legacy by empowering the next generation to pursue their own paths with purpose and generosity.
Honouring a Visionary Leader: The Fock Siew Wah SMU Grace Scholarship

SMU recently also received a collective gift from a group of donors to establish the Fock Siew Wah SMU Grace Scholarship, a lasting tribute to Mr Fock Siew Wah, a distinguished Singaporean banker and public servant who played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s financial landscape. His visionary leadership spanned key institutions including the Monetary Authority of Singapore, DBS Bank, and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.
Made possible by corporate donors: Pavilion Capital, PSA Corporation, Temasek – and individual donors: Mr Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara, Mdm Ho Ching, Mr Tan Chong Meng, Mr Tow Heng Tan, and staff of Pavilion Capital — the scholarship will support up to 14 deserving undergraduates from the Lee Kong Chian School of Business each year, in perpetuity.
The scholarship seeks to honour the legacy of Mr Fock’s grace and leadership, ensuring that his lifelong dedication to excellence and service continues to inspire future generations.
Both scholarships, the Fock Siew Wah SMU Grace Scholarship and the AGT Partners Scholarship embody the essence of SMU’s vision: to foster a community that uplifts others through education and shared purpose.
“As we approach the close of our Silver Jubilee year, these gifts serve as poignant reminders of how the seeds sown in earlier years are bearing fruit — in the graduates we have prepared for the world, in the SMU spirit we have nurtured, and in the flourishing of our alumni. Above all, we celebrate the heart and vision of those who choose to come back and contribute to those who come after them. The impact of these scholarships will be felt not only by their recipients, but also by those they go on to uplift, creating a legacy of giving that endures well beyond our 25th year,” said Professor Lily Kong, President of SMU.
Together, these gifts illuminate SMU’s enduring purpose: to shape leaders of character and compassion who will, in turn, inspire others to give.
