
In a commentary, SMU Associate Professor of Law Chen Siyuan, who is also Associate Dean (Student and Alumni Affairs) and Director of the Ian R Taylor International Moots Programme, highlighted Singapore’s strong record in international law moots and argued that mooting develops vital skills for an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven world. He stressed the existential importance of international law to Singapore’s prosperity and security, noting the gap between capability and investment in this area. Assoc Prof Chen urged a national mindset shift, structured pathways, and greater recognition of young talents to make international law expertise a national priority.
