SMU has a total of 3737 graduates this year, the largest batch since its inception in 2000.
The Class of 2023 comprises 2292 Bachelor’s degree graduates, 1,368 Master’s degree and Juris Doctor degree graduates, and 77 Doctorate degree graduates. Among the Bachelor’s degree graduates, 73 of them received double degrees. This year also saw the graduation of pioneer batches from the Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), Doctor of Philosophy in Accounting, and Doctor of Business Administration (Accounting and Finance) programmes. Bryan Lee from the inaugural batch of Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) graduates said that the opportunity to explore many new things at SMU broadened his horizon. He experimented with AI to edit and convert audio clips into images, making file browsing easier. Together with his friends, he also built an app using VR that allows users to decorate their personal spaces with virtual landmarks. Tang Hing Ying, who graduated with a Bachelor of Business Management, completed more than 500 hours of community service in SMU, far exceeding SMU’s requirement of 80 hours. She found it very meaningful to interact directly with her beneficiaries through the community service events she helped to organise. She is currently working at Schneider Electric Singapore Pte Ltd, and plans to volunteer with her colleagues at “Willing Hearts” to contribute to the community.
