In a commentary, SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan, who was team manager of the national swim team at the 2004 Athens Olympics, expressed his hope for Singapore’s only Olympic gold medalist Joseph Schooling to climb out of the seeming abyss that he is now in. He discussed how Schooling can showcase his true champion qualities, and called for people to give him the time and space to work things out.
