Study: Over half of Singaporeans are willing to discuss matters of death

According to a study led by SMU Assistant Professor of Corporate Communication (Practice) Dr Yeo Su Lin, compared to the 36% 5 years ago, there are currently 53.3% of Singaporeans who would not avoid discussing matters on death. The study also reported that more than half of the younger Singaporeans surveyed — between the ages of 21 and 50 — are now more aware and better informed of the purpose of palliative care in “relieving symptoms and improving the quality of life” of older patients. The study aims to better understand end-of-life communication and sentiments towards palliative care in Singapore.
