In a commentary, SMU Professor of Organisational Behaviour & Human Resources (Education) Thomas Menkhoff, SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan, and School of Information Systems Adjunct Faculty Kan Siew Ning wrote that the use of deep technology and innovation such as AI can help Singapore in its bid to become a cleaner and greener city. They believe a fully automated AI-enabled smart city system can provide effective “emissions-abatements” and that Singapore should seek a first-mover advantage through large-scale deployment.
