Singapore and Zurich, January 30, 2019 - Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Institute for Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances (IMAA) announced a cooperation in order to advance the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) education in South East Asia. Through this partnership, global best practices in M&A will become available to a wider audience in the region.

The International Mergers & Acquisitions Expert (IM&A) programme covers the M&A process from start to end. It has been developed by IMAA and its faculty members in a multiyear effort. The program is taught by academics with practical knowhow as well as by practitioners with significant local and cross-border transaction experience willing to share their knowhow. Participants will receive the IM&A designation upon successful completion.

“This program is a compelling offering of a new kind and represents a unique combination: an academically sound and well structured program with practical substance for all participants,” says Dr. Katharina Lange, Executive Director and Affiliated Faculty at SMU Executive Development.

“Our cooperation is a great next step for companies seeking new growth and the M&A community as a whole in the region,” adds Prof. Christopher Kummer, president of IMAA. “We are honored that SMU as a premier business school in Asia-Pacific partners with us.”

Both parties are looking forward to advancing the M&A capabilities of companies, advisers, and other stakeholders. A better preparation and holistic approach to M&A may improve the benefits that can be derived from successful business combinations. In addition to open enrollment programs, companies will be able to benefit from an inhouse version or tailored training in this field.

“We will be able to offer programmes for companies interested to expand by acquisitions in any region of the world. IMAA with their global pool of faculty and international expertise is a perfect match,” adds Dr. Lange.

The first joint open programme will be hosted from March 6 – 9, 2019 in Singapore. Further information can be found at https://exd.smu.edu.sg/public-programmes/international-mergers-and-acquisitions-expert and https://imaa-institute.org/m-and-a-trainings/international-m-and-a/
