Getting staff to speak up boosts productivity: Study

A study conducted by SMU and consultancy group Great Place to Work (GPTW) Institute Singapore found that the more comfortable employees feel about speaking up at their workplaces, the more productive they are likely to be. SMU Deputy Dean (Programmes) at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business and Professor of Strategic Management (Practice) Richard Smith, who collaborated with GPTW on the research, said that key drivers such as the behavioural integrity of leaders and healthy relationship networks have a "high impact" on psychological safety in Singapore. The report surveyed over 400,000 employees from more than 800 organisations across eight countries in the Asia-Pacific.
