In a commentary, SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer opined that society is richer for integrating the talents of people with special needs, but acknowledged that it will require the help of others to make it work. He shared several success stories of SMU students with special needs that have successfully overcome their challenges, and who in turn, have become valuable contributors to Singapore society. Prof De Meyer also shared the lessons learnt in the process of promoting normalisation and integration at SMU.
