Fishmonger uses new technologies to sell fish and pasted newspaper cuttings for credibility

SMU School of Information Systems’ alumnus Jeffrey Tan gave up a cushy job in business IT a few years ago and founded Dish the Fish – a new age fishmongering business. Together with his wife Angeline Ong, a former accountant, he runs two outlets at Beo Crescent Market and West Coast Plaza. The couple have also invested in technology for their operations and also uses social media to reach out to a younger generation of customers. His unique use of technology to modernise his business has also attracted attention from the mainstream media. Mr Tan’s stall at West Coast Plaza is now filled with various media clippings to let his customers understand his entrepreneurship journey. He also believed that the use of technology could revive sunset industries such as the fishmongering trade.
