SMU professor is one of AI's 10 scientists to watch

SMU Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Lee Kong Chian Fellow Akshat Kumar is a rising star in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). His research focuses on agent-based systems – autonomous entities, or agents, such as self-driving cars or autonomous ships, and the effects of their behaviour on the environment. He was named by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the world’s largest association of technical professionals, as one of “AI’s 10 to Watch”. The award acknowledges young but accomplished researchers who have contributed significantly to research in the field. Prof Akshat is the first SMU faculty member to receive the award.
