City Harvest case and the separation of powers

In a commentary, SMU Dean, School of Law and Associate Professor of Law Goh Yihan, believed that the verdict of the City Harvest Church appeal case provided an important example of how the Parliament and the courts each play different roles in Singapore’s legal system. The Parliament is tasked with the power to enact legislation while the courts exercise judicial power and seeks to interpret legislation, giving effect to Parliament’s intent and further developing it.
