Commentary: Will our children still have a habit of saving, financial literacy in a cashless society?

In a commentary, Alex Chow, a student trainer in the Citi-SMU Financial Literacy Programme for Young Adults opined on the need for financial literacy as we move towards becoming a cashless society. Mr Chow said that akin to the ability to navigate computers and smart phones in our modern, digital society, financial literacy is a necessary life skill which should be instilled from young. He added that schools are increasingly conducting financial literacy workshops for their students, to create a conducive environment to learn about money management. The Citi-SMU Financial Literacy Programme for Young Adults is one such example, offering financial literacy programmes to tertiary students with the aim of making them more financially savvy.
