SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan shares in his essay how we should not be frightened by the threat of terror. He shares how we should not develop Islamophobia, and that we should work towards a society that embraces diversity. To do so, Assoc Prof Tan suggests maintaining interaction between religions, to improve understanding and trust. Prof Tan added that there should be vigilance at all times, and we should not rely solely on our country's security. He believes that our attitudes play an important role in maintaining harmony -- something which is developed through rationality and emotions. Assoc Prof Tan concludes that unwavering belief in our lifestyle, equality and values are our best defence against the threat of terror.
