A team from SMU emerged the winner of a stock pitch competition among tertiary institutions. The SMU team made a pitch on Singtel in the competition where participants had five days to submit a research report on a single stock. Eight teams were then selected and given 48 hours to prepare a final presentation from which the leading trio were picked. In an interview with The Straits Times, SMU School of Economics undergraduate Yim Yi Xiang, who won the competition with his teammates Jonathan Khoh, Louis Quek and Nevin Tan, shared his team’s valuation techniques, his key takeaways from the competition, as well as his investing strategy.
