More fresh graduates from local universities are doing part-time, freelance, and temporary work. This is according to the results of a joint graduate employment survey of 10,904 fresh graduates in November last year by the three universities – SMU, NUS and NTU. Commenting on the results of the survey, Director of Dato’ Kho Hui Meng Career Centre at SMU Mr Sim Cher Young said: “Quite a sizeable number of our students have reported that they’ve gone the self-employed route, where they start up their own companies, they’re entrepreneurs, and they feel that this is their interpretation of how to serve the business community through their business where they own it themselves.”
