SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan shared his opinion on the revised social studies syllabus, which features issues that are more topical, such as the Little India riot by foreign workers of 2013, to help students be better informed about present-day tensions and multiple perspectives on these issues. Echoing the author’s view, Associate Prof Tan said the syllabus cannot conveniently ignore the realities of contentious and sensitive issues that the students encounter.
