SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan commented on the opening of the 13^th Parliament which is slated to take place this afternoon. He noted that daily issues like economy, immigration, cost of living, employment opportunity and an ageing population will continue to be the main focus when Parliament opens. Associate Prof Tan also stressed that there will be the urgent need to ensure a successful transformation of the economy by 2020, with productivity and innovation being the defining features of the future economy.
