Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at SMU Director and SMU Professor of Information Systems (Practice) Arcot Desai Narasimhalu discussed the benefits of reinvention, in which he highlighted the importance for every company, large or small, to continuously review its product and service offerings and reinvent its business model.  He listed some examples of companies who had successfully reinvented their business models, such as General Motors, Apple, IBM, and Amazon. Prof Narasimhalu emphasised that companies that disrupt their current products and services actively through new business models and are able to find means of retaining their customers during the transition are the ones that are likely to have a sustainable future.
