SMU has partnered with DBS Bank to set up the DBS-SMU Life Analytics Lab, which aims to adopt a more systematic approach to analyse social trends based on publicly available data. Commenting on SMU’s expertise in this area, SMU School of Information Systems Dean, Vice Provost (Research) and Professor of Information Systems (Practice) Steven Miller noted that some of its projects include the collection and analysis of more than 100 million social media accounts in China, adding that in Singapore, SMU gathers publicly available data from social media platforms ranging from Linkedin to Twitter to Foursquare.
