At the 5^th DBS Asian Insights Conference, [Chairman of the SMU Board of Trustees and] Executive Chairman of Banyan Tree Holdings Limited Mr Ho Kwon Ping commented on whether high salaries in the civil service are diverting talent and growth away from the private sector.  He said that while tweaks to the public sector’s pay structure may have to be considered, it is better to “err on the side of overpaying”.
