In a feature, SMU Assistant Professor of Accounting Jimmy Lee shared how a company’s senior management team can contribute to effective overall corporate governance by imposing checks and balances. He is currently working with SMU School of Accountancy Dean-designate and Associate Dean (Research) Professor Cheng Qiang and Professor Terry Shevlin of the University of California, Irvine to examine how key subordinate officials can influence the extent of real earnings management in US companies.
