Sim Swee Choo opened 7Kickstart University Café at SMU in March this year, and now has 15 employees. She began her journey in the food and beverage industry when she worked as a manager in a burger and coffee eatery while pursuing her bachelor of commerce degree in Perth, Australia. Sim started SOHO7 café and bistro in 2010, as well as 7KICKstart BREWiches, which was later renamed to 7Kickstart Museum Café after it moved to the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) in 2013. She hopes to position 7Kickstart University Café as a community café where people can gather. She also aims to trademark and promote coffee such as ice-drip coffee and nitro coffee, and to launch her new “Utama by 7Kickstart” shop by this year to celebrate SG50.
