Academia at first SkillsFuture lecture: Need to show employers the long-term benefits of training workers

SMU held its first SkillsFuture lecture, "Building Skills for the Future", on March 26. Professor Peter Cappelli, Director of Wharton’s Center for Human Resources at The Wharton School in Pennsylvania, USA, who was the first to speak, said that for the SkillsFuture programme to succeed, employers must be convinced of the long-term value and benefits of investing in employee training. The lecture was organised by the SMU Wee Kim Wee Centre and the SkillsFuture Secretariat.
