Part-time programmes at tertiary institutions see more courses and participants

A few local universities have implemented short-term courses targeting non-graduates and have received a positive response. An SMU spokesperson said that the University’s Centre for Professional Studies, Financial Training Institute and Financial IT Academy offer programmes for working adults which are between a few days and a few months in duration. To date, more than 3,700 participants have attended these training programmes. HR practitioner Kenneth Lim Yu Kai, who is a business graduate, is a participant of SMU’s HR Graduate Certification Programme. He felt that the programme has benefited his work as it provided him with insights into the human resource sector. The learning was also more effective, given the networking with and sharing by like-minded practitioners in his course. He added that the modular structure of his course also benefitted working professionals like himself.
