ACRES founder Louis Ng announces move to join PAP

On the move by Mr Louis Ng, the founder of non-governmental organisation Animal Concerns Research and Education (ACRES), to join the People's Action Party (PAP) and the potential conflict of interest between his these two commitments, SMU Associate Professor of Law and political analyst Eugene Tan said: "I don’t see how, just because he is now a card-carrying member, that would make the work that he has come to be known more muted." However, Associate Prof Tan added that many people join political parties quietly and choose not to declare it. "[The manner of the announcement] raises the question of whether he's intending to take on a higher profile within the party,' he said.
