SMU Associate Professor of Law Goh Yihan commented on the legal situation facing a buyer when a property on completion does not match the specifications described in the brochure or Sale & Purchase (SNP) agreement. He warned that some SNP agreements contain clauses that exclude developers from responsibility for any misrepresentations in the sales materials. However, if the agreement provides for compliance with fire regulations, for example, the buyer might be able to sue for non-compliance with the contract, if the fire regulations are breeched.
