Indonesian tycoon donated $1 million to SMU to set up scholarship for local needy students

Indonesian tycoon Dr Tahir, founder of the Mayapada Group, will donate S$1 million to SMU for the setting up of a scholarship for Singaporean students. Previously, he had donated $1 million to the University to set up the Tahir Indonesian Scholarship for Indonesian students. Each year, one scholarship, worth S$60,000 and valid for four years, will be disbursed. First year accountancy student Ratna Sari Dessy is the first recipient of the Tahir Indonesian Scholarship.
