SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer said that the Committee to Develop the Accounting Sector (CDAS) had envisioned that “Singapore should be transformed into a leading global accountancy hub” by developing a Centre of Excellence in tax. SMU, in collaboration with the Tax Academy of Singapore (TA), has thus launched the SMU-TA Centre for Excellence in Taxation (SMU-TA CET) with support from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS). The Centre’s projects will focus first on international tax issues relevant to Singapore and other Asian economies.
