The next phase of the women’s movement must be a men’s movement

President and CEO of the New America Foundation and the Bert G. Kerstetter ’66 University Professor Emerita of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University Professor Anne-Marie Slaughter was at SMU in May 2014 to give a special lecture on gender and equality at the workplace under the ExxonMobil-SMU Dialogue. Dr Slaughter is also one of the world’s most respected thought leaders in international relations. In 2009, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appointed her as the director of Policy Planning for the United States Department of State under the Obama administration, the first woman to hold that position. In this exclusive interview with 938LIVE, Dr Slaughter spoke about her personal life experiences and discussed how a work-life balance paradigm needs to be shifted. Can we look at work-life balance in terms of a family issue and how exactly can the men play a role in moving the women’s placement forward?
