Singapore Management University spearheads education innovation with the Desire2Learn Integrated Learning Platform

SMU has successfully implemented innovative models to personalise the student experience using the Desire2Learn (D2L) Integrated Learning Platform (ILP). SMU Vice Provost (Undergraduate) and School of Accountancy Dean, Professor Pang Yang Hoong said that the University differentiated itself by pioneering a unique pedagogy that involved an interactive, participative seminar style of learning in small-sized classes. According to SMU Chief Information Officer and Vice President (Integrated Information Technology Services) Lau Kai Cheong, the D2L ILP, known as "eLearn" in the University, creates a seamless and pervasive learning environment that "transcends across the physical and virtual learning spaces". Assistant Professor Kenneth Huang said that the adaptive learning technologies from D2L allow SMU to customise learning journeys to suit the needs of individual students, offering the right content at the right time.
