In a commentary, SMU Professor of Law and Centre for Cross-Border Commercial Law in Asia Director Tang Hang Wu highlighted the importance of always thinking of ways to improve laws or develop schemes to prevent the abuse of those with special needs. He commented that as Singapore looks into strengthening the social safety net for vulnerable people, special attention should be paid to the need for laws on mandatory reporting of abuse and the establishment of a dedicated organisation to minimise cases of abuse.
