EduSnap

Inspired by their own personal experiences, three SMU graduates from the School of Information Systems – Chia Luck Yong, Anders Tan Wei Siong and Shaun Tan Jun Hua – founded the social enterprise EduSnap. They also launched a free mobile application, by the same name, which serves to help primary 1 to JC 2 students, especially those from lower-income families who do not have the financial resources to engage tuition teachers. The group spent five months developing the app and recently launched it in March 2014. The mobile application, which is available for free on both iOS and Android platforms, had recorded about 300 downloads at the time of the interview, thanks to a pool of about 20 educational partners and volunteers who share the graduates’ vision of providing free education to those in need. The team hopes to help as many students as possible, and is working towards introducing the platform to schools and tuition centres in Singapore.
