SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan said that he will be re-applying for another term as Nominated MP (NMP). He told Channel NewsAsia he had come to the decision after receiving encouragement from people around him. Associate Prof Tan said he had wanted to make sure that he was seeking another term for the "right reasons". He added that as an NMP, he's had opportunities to speak on a wide variety of issues. The term for the current nine NMPs began in February 2012 and will expire in August 2014.
