SMU has conferred an honorary degree of Doctor of Business on Mr Ratan Tata, a philanthropist and corporate leader. The award was presented by Education Minister Heng Swee Keat and SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer. This is the university's highest honour and acknowledges his contributions as a "visionary entrepreneur, societal leader and an astute businessman", SMU said in a statement.
