Chan Chun Sing: Young people should have the right view of community service as they can benefit from it too

Speaking at the Service Learning Symposium 2014,  jointly organised by SMU and social enterprise Positive Intentions (PI), Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing noted that many young people are under the impression that community service is about helping the less privileged, but they fail to realise that they themselves can benefit from it. The event was attended by 150 students and teachers from 10 secondary schools. Thirty undergraduates were also present to help the attendees brainstorm ideas on how they can start offering community services to the less privileged. This was the second time the SMU Centre for Social Responsibility jointly organised the event with PI.
