Singapore Management University’s (SMU) Centre for Social Responsibility, together with Positive Intentions (PI), a social enterprise that specialises in people development, will jointly host Service Learning Symposium 2014 on Saturday, 15 February 2014 to provide local youths with a platform to enhance their Service Learning skills and exchange ideas and experiences with each other.  Through this platform, the organisers hope to enrich the community service experience of the students so that they can make a greater positive impact in society.

The Symposium will bring together about 150 secondary students who are active in community service work.  The event will also comprise sharing sessions by NGOs and educators from O’Joy Care Services, Bowen Secondary School and the Community Health Assessment Team of the Institute of Mental Health.

Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Social and Family Development, and Senior Minister for Defence, is the Guest-of-Honour at the Symposium.  He will be speaking to the students on community service and the role students can play in addressing some of the social issues that Singapore faces.
