Commenting on the purchase by the Asian Civilisations Museum of works alleged to have been illicitly obtained, SMU Assistant Professor of Law Jack Lee said that museums with the option of seeking legal redress in such situations should also consider if it is worth suing the fraudster because the museum will have to pay its solicitors' fees. If the legal proceedings occur overseas, extra costs will be incurred.
