MPs: The Pioneer Generation Package provides more comprehensive medical care for the elderly, from receiving treatment, hospitalisation to rehabilitation

SMU Associate Professor of Law and NMP Eugene Tan said that it is more practical to offer assistance to the pioneer generation in cash, as this can help them with rising living costs. He added that it would be better if the government’s Pioneer Generation Package could help them in other areas of their lives, excluding healthcare, and address their psychological needs, so that they can better enjoy their retirement. It would also be good if they can get subsidies when they want to attend courses to stay active. Associate Prof Tan hopes that when the government reviews the Pioneer Generation Package in future, it will consider also including those born between 1950 and 1955.
