On the Pioneer Generation Package, SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan was of the opinion that its scope was not broad enough as it seemed to focus only on medical costs. He suggested that the package should be expanded to include subsidising the transport costs for the elderly. Associate Prof Tan added that this move by the Government showed to the younger generation of Singaporeans that it was necessary and correct to take care of the pioneer generation.
