A ground-breaking ceremony was held to mark the start of the construction of the SMU School of Law building, due for completion in 2017. Key facilities of the school will include the Kwa Geok Choo Law Library named in honour of the late wife of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, the David Marshall Moot Court and the SMU Pro Bono Centre. SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer said that SMU's location near to the court would foster closer ties between students, alumni and law professionals.
