SMU Assistant Professor of Law Jack Lee provided insights on a new bill introduced in Parliament which seeks to maintain public order and calm in Little India after last December's riot. Assistant Prof Lee said that the new bill will provide some flexibility and give authorities specific powers to act quickly. Pertaining to limitations arising from the new bill, he said ‘We will have to wait and see how it works in practice to get a better idea of what some of the problems might be. The one year temporary period is to enable some of these problems to be tweaked.’
