Lina Chiam and Chiam See Tong elected to central executive committee with high number of votes

SMU Associate Professor of Law and NMP Eugene Tan said that Mr and Mrs Chiam still appear to be the key leaders of the Singapore People’s Party (SPP), and that the pace of injecting new blood into the party seems not fast enough. He also observed that the current members of the central executive committee are not playing more significant roles. This may result in people further doubting whether SPP will be able to renew itself in time for the next general election. If Mr Chiam does not take part in the next general election, his influence will be further diminished.
