SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan commented on foreign manpower sensitivities and workplace safety, two hot topics in the Singapore manpower scene in 2013. He said that the Fair Consideration Framework introduced by the Manpower Ministry sought to address concerns of some Singaporeans about being discriminated against in the job market. Regarding workplace safety, he said that it is important for all stakeholders to work towards improving safety standards for all workers.
