SMU Professor of Economics and committee member of the Fare Review Mechanism Committee (FRMC) Phang Sock Yong said that service quality can be regulated outside of the framework, when asked why operators’ service quality was not part of the FRMC’s proposal of a new formula for calculating public transport fares. The proposed formula will take into account energy costs.
