About 100 people attended an hour-long discussion at SMU on the topic, The Writer in a Country’s Intellectual Life, on Saturday. It was one of more than 40 panel discussions held during the 10-day Singapore Writers Festival’s opening weekend. Acclaimed Chinese writer Ma Jian, Singaporean poet Alvin Pang, Malaysian writer Dina Zaman and Korean Kim Young Ha were the authors featured on the panel.
