Changing Companies

Executive Director of SMU Executive Development Stephen Wyatt explained how many multi-national companies are being transformed by their experience of interacting with so-called 'frontier' countries outside their traditional OECD markets. He noted that some of the key determinants of how much a company might change are based on the percentage of revenues/profits that it derives from its home market and the number of international markets the company enters. On the changes that a company can experience as it becomes more and more internationalised, Stephen Wyatt commented that one of the clear signs that a global company is starting to operate in a different way is when you begin to get a geographically dispersed senior management team.
